Steak Frites
A quickie but goodie - steak frites. Entire beef fillets can be tricky for butchers; at some point, the muscle nearly splits in two, creating either two very small fillets (tournedoes), or one rather mishapen one. Since they can't really sell these as fillets, Weiland's has come up with a nice solution: bistro steaks. They skewer the fillets with thick wooden skewers for ease when grilling, and sell them in 2 packs for $7.98 a pound. That's right. My package contained a little over a pound, and cost $8.33. Rounded out with Alexia fries (the only good oven fry I think I've ever tried), and I had dinner for two for about $10.50. Who needs veggies?! Potatoes are kind of a veggie, aren't they? Okay, make a salad if you must.
