May will (finally) bring the growing season here in Central Ohio, and many other exciting things are happening as well. Here's a list of happenings around Columbus and beyond:
May 5-12 Ashtabula County Wine & Bloom Trail and other wine events: $25-$35 allows a person or couple to travel to various wineries, sampling cheese and receiving seedlings. (Northeastern Ohio)
May 13th - First Worthington Farmers Market! Just south of the intersection of High Street and Route 161 in Olde Worthington, and every Saturday through mid-October.
May 19th - First Pearl Alley Farmers Market: A great place to spend your lunch hour if you work downtown; typically there are food vendors, or eat at El Arepazo. Pearly Alley at Broad Street, every Tuesday and Friday from 10:30am - 2pm.
May 20th - First Clintonville Farmers Market: Clintonville Commons, 3559 High St. Every Saturday through October.
May 20th - 10th Annual Apron Gala at the North Market: Stroll around the Market, sampling great food and wine and meeting the people who make and grow your food. The one event I always wish I could go to but always have to work. *sigh* Tickets are $60-$75, depending on if you are a friend of the market.
May 20th - 21st - Ohio Proud Spring Fling at Easton Town Center - The perfect event to go with the May Eat Local Challenge! See products from all over the state and meet the people who bring them to you.
May 27th - 28th - Asian Festival! One of the best festivals for eating out there!! Sample food from all over Asia and see demonstrations of traditional dance, etc. Perfect location at the Franklin Park Conservatory.
Now get out there and do something fun!
