Praying Mantis Update

Pretty soon, I will have my own zoo, and will move from food writing into full-time animal writing.  At any rate, I promised to update on the praying mantis nest, and I couldn't believe it when I was working in the kitchen this morning and happened to look over at the nest and it was hatching!  Husband informed me that hardly any of the babies will make it past this stage, and warned that it is kind of a mistake to think that all of these praying mantises (mantisae?) will continue to live in the yard and eat bugs, as they are very territorial and if any survive, probably only one will stay.  Well, it was interesting anyway!
