'Tis the season to pick your own, especially if you are a canner, jam-maker, etc. Instead of listing every farm I can find, I will point you in the direction of another website dedicated to this sort of thing. They also have a lot of helpful canning and preserving information as well as a calender of produce availability which is broken down by 2-week period, so you can plan ahead. The link goes right to the Pick Your Own.Org Columbus/Central Ohio page, but you can navigate for your area nationally.
I will be doing some picking this week at Jacquemin Farms - they have strawberries right now and all sorts of good stuff coming. Once upon a time, before they moved to this large full-service farm, we were neighbors and they were sod farmers. How times have changed! They have a very nice, comprehensive website with listings of everything they have and when it is available. If only all farms had this! Jacquemin Farms is on the Northwest side, just west of Muirfield.
If you are on the South side, Circle S farms are located on Groveport Road, just south of Grove City. They also have a great website full of useful information, including how to preserve strawberries.
Aside from strawberries, peas should be starting to come in this week, so get out there and see how delicious peas can really be when you pick them yourself.
