This quick post is to let you know that Weiland's new expansion, although still in the tweaking process, is open. They are now a state liquor agency. I resisted the urge to ask them when I could start recommending everything I thought they were missing. The new section seems kind of like the "party" section; soon the wine will be moved and will lead right into the chip, soda and beer section, which will lead into the liquor section. Good job guys! They will be redecorating soon, as well, with some updated paint and flooring. I'm glad to see they are doing well.
It looks as though the Sunflower Market in the new South Campus Gateway Project is coming right along (read the old press release here). I don't really know anything about Sunflower Market, except they have a walk-in produce cooler, which sounds pretty cool to me.n Another Sunflower will be opening in the Olentangy Plaza on Bethel Road this year, as well. For those of you stuck in an office all day, you can click over to their website and download your very own virtual sunflower for your desktop.
A new neighborhood bar has opened right around the corner from me, in the former Blondies spot - the Rumba Cafe (on Summit St. at Hudson). I plan to stroll over this evening after work and check things out. The owner is a member of longtime Columbus favorite HooDoo Soul band, so I'm guessing we can expect some live music. Oh, and the name would imply some sort of music, as well. I will of course keep you posted.
