Yet Another Kihachi Revisit
Instead of posting another lengthy dinner at Kihachi, I just thought I would direct you, dear readers, to my Flickr page with the photos of dinner and descriptions of each dish - just click the picture (first 8 pictures are from last week's dinner). Other items, tested but not photographed, were: shitake and shrimp tempura, and chawanmushi (steamed egg custard soup with shrimp and gingko nuts - a must-try when it's cold outside), and braised bamboo shoots. Besides the (always) fantastic dinner, I also learned that Chef Kimura is involved in flower arranging - he does all of the arranging in the restaurant and has even had arrangements displayed at the Columbus Museum of Art! I also learned that burdock root is grown sideways commercially, and that the outer portions are the best; the root hollowed out, and is then boiled in rice-washing water and then filled with shrimp paste and fried. Yum! I'll have to try that sometime.
In other news, I have a whole slate full of new restaurants I will be trying out soon, so stay tuned!
