Restaurant Widow is 2!!!
(Sorry for the recycled cake photo) It is hard to believe my little site has reached its second birthday. I realize it's trite and cliché, but it seems that only yesterday I was planning my first birthday post. And, because I haven't done half the things this year I thought I would, I won't make any promises for the upcoming year. Although, if you would like to make suggestions on what you would like to see in the coming year, I would happily take them under advisement.
Here are a few things I did get done this year that I'm proud of:
Grew tomatoes
Went to the farmer's market every Saturday morning, even once in the pouring rain.
Planted a yard and kitchen garden where there had once been none, even with wildlife.
I also worked very hard to eat as locally as possible for the entire year, learning that Columbus is filled to the brim with produce, meat and grains - I suppose that's something I already knew, but all of these things are readily available, especially during the summer.
Visited about one restaurant every 2 weeks to write about - this doesn't include all of the revisits. Not bad for someone who pays for everything.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for your suggestions and for passing me along to your friends. Thanks for your donations and your critiques and your support. Thanks for visiting the places I like and letting me know about your experiences. Thanks for your questions and your emails, your thoughts and advice. I hope I don't let you down!
Here's to another year of happy eating!
