The weather is finally catching up to the date - as I write this, I am looking out my open doors onto the green yard and the just-barely green trees. It's a shame we lost all of our flowering trees in our short spring a few weeks ago, but soon the dogwoods will be out. Speaking of weather, it remains to be seen how the fruit trees will fare after the freeze - my mother, in Charlotte, was telling me the other day that all the peaches there have died. We might see some very high prices for fruit this summer. Hopefully some of the nectarines survived; last summer I ate one every day. Now what will I do? I've digressed into a weather rant. Let's get on with this week's events, most of which are non-food related. Those will come in May.
