Housekeeping Notes
Dear Readers,
Have I told you lately that I love you? I really do. I am a little behind on my e-mails, and I apologize if you are waiting for a response. Once upon a time, when I worked for Giant Clothing Retailer, I was required to answer all e-mails within 24 hours. I must be having Corporate Nightmare flashback rebellion.
As a sidenote, I use Gmail, and although I love it, it would be nice if there were a folder feature (got that, Google? Thanks). Then I could put all of my "To be answered" e-mails in that folder and feel a nice sense of completion when I move them back to the general pool.
I am going to switch to a respond to questions in the comments section format, so if you are waiting for a reply, you might check the comment section for a group reply. Of course, if you e-mailed me privately, I won't be posting a response in the comment section.
I promise to catch up on my e-mails over the weekend (that's restaurant weekend, mind you, Sunday & Monday).
Thank you for your patience and for reading. Your support and comments keep me inspired and encouraged to keep cooking and eating!
Cheers!
Lisa the Waitress

Gmail Folders: Since gmail doesn't come with folders I use the star feature to mark emails that require a response. :)

Thanks for the note, Lisa. We all know how busy you are. If you can post something about the Tinies this weekend, Tigger, SirWoody, and SonnyBob from Pet's Garden http://petsgardenblog.com/html are hosting WCB #108. They are Bengal kitties.
And, I love the labels feature. Here in Charlottesville, the blog labels are set up for WCB and Restaurant Widow. I click on your WCB label each week, but sadly nothing new about the Tinies.
John and ScamperDude hosted last weekend. They did an excellent job with all the postings. Take a look: http://scamperdude.blogspot.com/2007/06/wcb-107.html

Yup...I was going to chime in with the "labels" feature as well.
I have maybe a dozen of them set up, the show up as a list on the left of the screen. Apply the label, archive it to clean up the inbox, click the label name to see whats there, and then remove the label once it's dealt with and you no longer need to address the message.

I agree with the labels for gmail. Then you can archive the messages and get them out of your inbox for a less cluttered look. I prefer to just leave my messages to be dealt with in the inbox and archive everything else so I don't have to see it but can find it when I need it. My husband is the opposite, he keeps thousands of messages sitting in his inbox! And don't forget about the stars you can use to draw attention to those things you NEED to pay attention to.

I don't know if this is exactly the solution you are looking for, but labels in gmail come pretty close to folders. All you have to do is create a new label in gmail, then you can tag any appropriate emails with that label. All labels show up in the side bar, so when you click on them, it shows all emails with that label.
