In an effort to document exactly how I use my CSA each week - just for those of you who remain unconvinced - I am going to at least post descriptions of everything we made, even if the dish might seem redundant (we eat a lot of pasta in this house; I'm not sure a week's worth of pasta recipes would prove me a great food blogger). At any rate, here are other things we did with our May 26th CSA:
Every Saturday, when I get home from the markets, it's a battle between making fried eggs immediately with my fantastic Elizabeth Telling eggs, or actually making something which requires work. This past week, I actually made it to Sunday before making my fried eggs, along with the OinkMooCluck bacon I bought at the market, and another measly attempt at hash browns (one of the things I really can't make). Alas, no picture - think lots of grease and butter.
Husband made this yummy salad out of chili, lemon juice and lemon zest-marinated fresh mozzarella tossed with my CSA arugula:
Husband also made this pasta with the calamari shaped pasta, CSA asparagus, more bacon, and CSA arugula:
I made this salad to take to work, out of CSA greens (I added store-bought fennel) and CSA radishes, along with hard-cooked CSA eggs. I made a crushed olive vinaigrette for tossing:
So there it is! I think I have one more CSA recipe coming up, but that's it for right now (still have to use my ramps!). I think you can see how even a seemingly small amount of food can be a good foundation for many meals. Get out there and buy something locally grown.
