It's hard to believe it's October. Both because I can't believe how quickly this year is flying by, and because it is hot outside (seriously, it's going to be nearly 90 for the rest of the week). Before we know it, it will be time to post the Thanksgiving recipes and send out our Holiday party invitations. Yikes!
I will be out of town for the rest of the week, so I might not be posting again until Sunday or Monday, please don't think I've abandoned you!! I will have my laptop with me, so who knows.
It's the time of year when we move from festivals and outdoor events to those nice intellectual artsy, indoors events. And haunted houses.
- This Sunday (2:30p - 7:30p) is Taste of Grandview at McKinley Park (1661 Goodale). Sample treats from the fine restaurants of Grandview.
- Speaking of Tastes of, Thursday is Taste of Gahanna (6-9p) at the Aladdin Shrine Temple (3850 Stelzer Road). Sample foods from the great restaurants of Gahanna. Tickets are $25 and up, click for more details.
- This weekend is the Columbus Italian Festival (4th St @ Lincoln, St. John's Italian Catholic church, Italian Village); celebrate all things Italian with lots of food, espresso and cooking demonstrations and even lessons in conversational Italian. Admission is $5 for adults.
- It's Harvest Festival this Saturday at the North Market! Aside from the farmer's market, you can see the carving of a giant pumpkin, hear live music, and eat a lot of things make from apples and pumpkins. There are also contests for pumpkin baking and apple pie baking. Yum! I wish I would be around to judge this one, as I heart pumpkin baking.
- Next Saturday is the Fall festival at the Worthington Farmer's Market (9a - 4p, High Street @ 161). Candied apples, kettle corn, even hay rides!
- This week at the Wexner Center, you can see the interesting-sounding S20 dance troupe led by Japanese choreographer Hiroaki Umeda ($18, Thurs - Sat). You can also see a screening of The Open Road, musical accompaniment provided by Sue Harshe (Scrawl); Thursday, $7/7pm)
