Is it still nice and warm outside? Hopefully. Okay, I just checked the weather report and it seems that we are going to be getting cold again. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed the balmy weather we had yesterday. Here at Chez Widow, I have just purchased my yearly humifier and received my first gas bill over $100. I guess that means winter is here. I should probably start my Christmas shopping sometime soon. *sigh*
At any rate, here are a few options for your week: I will be updating the list tonight and tomorrow, but as always - if you have any events you'd like me to add, please leave them in the comments or send me an email and I will add it to the list.
- First up, this weekend is Broadway Across America's performace of Sweeney Todd. I love Sweeney Todd. I thought it was the best thing ever when I learned about it in my Musical Theatre class in college. Of course, the movie version is about to come out, but this is your chance to see the "real" thing before you see the (brilliant, I'm sure) movie version.
- Don't forget that this Saturday is a Winter Farmer's market in Worthington! I hope a lot of people turn out for these winter markets so their success ensures their continuation! It can be very hard to find local foods in the wintertime, but they do exist, so I love this opportunity. The market takes place at the Griswold Center (777 N. High st in Worthington, NW corner of 161 & High st), this Saturday from 10am - 2pm. See you there!
- The Wilds has packed things up for the winter, but you can have one last fling this Saturday if visiting was one of this year's resolutions. Visit their website for more information.
- If you're looking for a really cheap date Thursday, look no further than the Wexner Center's Secret Cinema, which is a mere $3 per ticket. Secret cinema features either a film never before released in Columbus, or a newly restored classic. Click over to the Wex for more events.
- For those of you old-fashioned-philes (I was totally one of those as a child), visit the Ohio Historical Society this week for A Dickens of a Christmas, culminating Sunday with Sunday Brunch with Dickens. I went to something similar when I was little at the OHS and I loved it, so get those kids out for some education.
- Get in touch with your inner diva at the Pro Musica Messiah Side-by-Side singalong this Friday at the Mill Run Lutheran Church at Mill Run. Tickets are $15 (more info).
- The Columbus Children's Theater will present "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!" through December 23rd - there are lots of opportunities to see the production with a few matinees on Saturdays.
