Sidenote

While I typically like to keep things very food-related here at Restaurant Widow and not personal, I thought the good vibes of my readers couldn't hurt anyone . . .

My friend Kelly is donating her kidney (to her ex - imagine the selflessness!) tomorrow morning at 7am, and I just wanted to ask everyone to think of her, send good thoughts, vibes, prayers, or whatever you believe in.  I can't imagine doing anything so selfless (I don't know what that says about me) unless it were Husband, so I am very proud of her.  The moment she heard that her ex needed a kidney, she said she'd do it and has never looked back or thought twice.  It's pretty interesting to hear what all goes into organ donation from a living donor, and although I had an uncle who received a kidney transplant years ago, I was too young to really hear any of the details.  These days, the surgery is far less invasive than it was 20 years ago, but it still has a long (and unpaid) recovery period.

Kelly's first meal post-op will be chocolate ice cream, hopefully Jeni's, if she's lucky!
