Greetings from a lazy Sunday! I just dropped Husband off at the rental car place and he is off to take his
Advanced MS test! Woot! I plan on doing some cleaning, laundry, organizing, sleeping & reading while he's gone (see? I made a goal where I'll at least be able to keep 2 out of 5!) Of course, I will also be visiting a lot of the staycation places we discussed this week. Since I am trying to save up for my Bocuse d'Or trip, I think I am going to skip most of the dining options and see how many things I can do for under $10 each. Drat! That leaves out COSI! Oh well. Husband would probably be bitter if I went there without him anyway.
First up! Tomorrow is another fabulous episode of No Reservations, and the nice folks there have sent me a few videos to whet your appetite - here are highlights, here Anthony Bourdain & Ted Nugent discuss obesity, and here, Anthony & Alice Cooper talk baseball.
Coming up on Sunday, September 14th is the OEFFA Harvest Dinner! The dinner features dishes by some of Columbus' best chefs! Here are the details and chefs involved:
Hors d’oeuvres: Alana Shock, Alana's Fine Food and Wine
First course: Jon O'Carroll, Lindey's
Second course: Kevin Malhame, The Northstar Café
Third course: Tom Smith, The Worthington Inn
Fourth course: Kevin Guffey, The Athletic Club of Columbus
You might remember that I went to a similar event a few years ago. I apologize in advance for the horrible pictures; it was like 3 cameras ago and this was just a wee baby blog. You can find more information over at the OEFFA website.
Okay! The next Restaurant Widow Sunday Supper will finally take place on Sunday, August 24
th! I know it's been too long since the first dinner, but July was so busy that we didn't have time to get to it. But August should be a little more sedate. Hopefully. So. August's dinner should include tons of amazing produce. It's such a great time of year that I'm actually having a hard time settling on a menu! The options are endless!! There will certainly be lots of tomatoes. And sweet corn. And things made from local wheat and cornmeal. And potatoes. And who knows what else! Just give me 24 hours to be sure the date is okay and email a few people who couldn't make the last one. We are going to do things differently this time. I am going to make spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will once again be $52/person, $104/couple and there is sure to be lots of yummy food & wine for all!
Lastly: I will be at the Clintonville Farmer's Market on Saturday, August 30th, passing out some sort of snack. I have no idea what it will be, but it will be different from last year. Stop by & say hello!
