Wow. This morning I was awakened to a cat screeching somewhere outside and I ran onto the back porch to see what was going on and was hit full in the face by a lovely, amazing, autumn morning. I love this time of year. My only complaint is that it never lasts long enough. I love the first day when I can order hot coffee (I am always hot, so when it's warm outside, I have to have it iced). I love eating squash and braised things, I love my sweet autumn clematis which is finally in bloom. I love that I finally have 2 Sungold tomatoes in my garden (thanks, Alana!). I love the way the sun hits everything on early mornings this time of year. It's too bad all of this loveliness will slide away into a long, dark, Central Ohio winter. Oh well, if it weren't for the gloomy days, would we appreciate the lovely ones so much?
As always, leave things I've forgotten in the comments section!
- First up this week is the North Market's Microbrew Festival! Yum! Too bad I'm working; drinking beer is one of my favorite activities. At any rate, you can taste beer from lots of different breweries. It also Scoot-a-Queue, so I highly recommend at least going down to see all the scooters.
- Friday is another Waterfire Columbus on the Riverfront, this one will celebrate um, local football.
- This Sunday is the Local Harvest Dinner at the Worthington Inn. There will be numerous chefs preparing numerous dishes.
- This Sunday is the Yart Sale at the Columbus Museum of Art. Find great works of art for a steal.
- Speaking of art, this week marks the opening of the Warhol Exhibit at the Wexner Center!!! There is a members-only preview Friday night (and it starts late! I hope to make it there after work, but who knows) and then the exhibit opens Saturday. This is a great event for our city and includes lots of video, TV shows, and other things that aren't part of the usual Warhol things. There are lots of events going on with this exhibit, and one of them is Robert Forster plays the Velvet Underground.
- Via Colori returns to Goodale Parke this year! If you have never been, it's really cool. It's amazing the things people can do with chalk. Maybe I'll spend the year learning chalk art and then next year I can draw a giant tomato or something.
- This weekend is the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo. I was going to link to it but their website is so terrible that I can't find it on their website. Event the words "fitness expo" didn't turn anything up. And I got pop up ads. And there is so much advertising on their site I can't tell the difference between their content and adverts. AND an advert kept moving my screen to the top of the page even when I tried to scroll down. Now I remember why I stopped visiting their website. Sorry. Rant over. At any rate, it's Saturday & Sunday at the Convention Center. You can get lots of tests for free. Hm. Do I even want to know what my cholesterol is after making butter all summer?
- Nerds rejoice! Sunday is the Columbus Toy & Comic book show at Vet's Memorial!
