Since I sort of failed on the events listing this week, I have two great ideas; you could probably do both if you'd like . . .
First up, Wild Good Creative, a group whose passion is to facilitate the creation of excellent, relevant, and surprising art across multiple mediums. In a collaborative community, our flock embraces the tension between tradition and innovation, creating a hospitable learning environment where our space and resources provide a meeting point for artists and audiences alike." Sounds pretty cool. I noticed the other day they have taken the space next to Spindle on the little block on Summit just south of Hudson (next to Rhumba Cafe). Tonight, they will be hosting Eric Bean, brewmaster for CBC, and Frank Barickman, president of the Sciota, Olentangy, Darby Zymurgists (aka SODZ), the local homebrewing club. You can taste some great beers and see beer being brewed right before your eyes. This event takes place at 2491 Summit Street, which is conveniently located within stumbling distance of Chez Widow.
The event begins at 5pm and the suggested donation is $10 For more information, click on the picture above, or here.
The second event it one of my favorite bands playing tonight at the Basement - the Heartless Bastards, a Daton/Cincinnati band with an amazing female lead singer (Erika Wennestrom) - she has this really rough and tumble, kind of sad voice, but this isn't singer-songwriter junk, it's good. You can listen to a few of their tracks on their MySpace. Tickets are $12. You can read a great review of this week's Cincinnati performance at the Each Note Secure Cincinnati Music Blog.
See? I've planned your whole day for you, at only $22! For an extra $12, you can head to Sage and start the day off with a black bean and chorizo hash with a side of Texas Toast and a coffee, and you'll be all set for the day.
