It has only occurred to me today that I should do more traveling in the wintertime. It can be a rather uninspiring time of the year for cooking, but I am always inspired when I travel. Of course, the first 6 weeks of the year are pretty much the worst time of year for those of us in the restaurant business, so a big trip like Napa or something was pretty much out of the question. I either wanted something a cheap flight away or a close drive. A few weeks ago I put the question out to my Twitter followers. Louisville was the most suggested short drive, and with my love of all things bourbon and the great buzz Louisville has been getting for awhile now, I decided to set that as our destination.
