So. Today, Husband and I are going to meander down to Louisville. We are looking forward to a little bit of relaxation and, of course, bourbon consuming. I've just planned most of our itinerary. Of course, you, my readers, have been a great resource for our Louisville destinations and dining spots, and the fine, fabulous people at the Louisville Convention & Visitor's Bureau have sent me lots of great ideas for dining and touristing.
So far, dining includes:
On the way to Louisville, we will be stopping off in Cincinnati to visit Terry's Turf Club. You might remember Terry's from such posts as the best burger Husband has ever had. I cannot wait.
After we get to our hotel, the critically-acclaimed art hotel 21c, we will probably have a little nap and some bourbon from the minibar (my favorite activity as soon as I check in to any hotel), and then head to Proof on Main for dinner. The menu looks unbelievable, and right up our alley. Consider such treats as rabbit liver pate, bison marrow bones, and cured bison tongue! Along with lots of house-made pickles, skate wing with salsify! Brussels sprouts with pancetta! My mouth is already watering.
Monday night, we are heading to L&N Wine bar, where Husband is very excited about the wine list. Because Kentucky doesn't have the same crazy liquor laws that we have here in Ohio, you can get some gems at seriously reasonable prices.
Of course, the overwhelming advice was to stop by Lynns Paradise Cafe for the hot brown. Hot brown seems to be seems to be some sort of open-faced turkey sandwich with cheese and sauce Mornay and bacon. It sounds perfectly wonderful in a fried-egg-on-hamburger sort of way.
So far, Tuesday seems pretty open (although we are going to be in Bourbon country), so if you have any last-minute thoughts, let me know! I will be connected on the trip.
I am guessing the beds at the 21c hotel are going to be super comfy, so hopefully we won't oversleep and miss anything.
The only bummer is we are going to be missing most of Restaurant Week!! Because as soon as we get back, we're right back into work! I am really excited about it, too. So, I guess it's up to everyone else to eat and tell me how it was for a change!!
