A few days after I noticed this super cool billboard on 4th@Gay (CMH Gourmand has some cool behind the scenes pics here), I got an email from the fine folks at Red Gold tomatoes, who were wondering if you, my dear readers, might like some free tomatoes & swag! But of course, I said! But, I was curious, where are Red Gold tomatoes grown? because my readers care about these sorts of things. I was very interested to learn that Red Gold tomatoes are grown throughout Ohio and Indiana. As it happens, the Midwest has the perfect climate for tomato-growing (but we already knew that, right?). Red Gold is a family-owned business which has been around since 1942 and they do nice things, like donating 10,000 pound of tomatoes to the Columbus Food Bank. Goodness knows they need it right now.
Red Gold will be doing this at Kroger & Meijer locations throughout the Greater Columbus area (and elsewhere in Ohio). The sampling and giveaways will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They have a lot of the bags, but people should probably get there before the end of the sampling to make sure.
