I happened to run into Tom Bauer from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams this morning and he greeted me with a great bit of news: Jeni's will be carried at the Foragers Market in Dumbo, Brooklyn, NYC!! Alas, I haven't been to the Foragers Market, but I love their tag line/philosophy: "A new breed of urban grocers...Wild about food, community, life, the planet." I can't wait until we have an awesome downtown market similar to this (I'm lookin' at you, Liz or you, Jill).
At any rate, New Yorkers will finally be able to taste the best export Columbus has to offer. They will start off with 6 signature flavors and hopefully add more. Pints are $10 each. And yes, they are worth every bite.
If you are a NYC food blogger and you write about your experience with Jeni's Ice Creams, please let me know and I'll be sure to link to your post!!
Way to go, Jeni's!!
And by the way, for those of you who are concerned that Jeni's growth will (adversely) affect the quality, it's their growth which has enabled them to do things like source all of their milk from one organic Ohio dairy, from grass-fed cows. It also enables them to have fruit and veggies grown in Ohio just for them, and source vanilla beans from one farm in Uganda, which is owned by women and offers fair wages to its workers.
