It's almost Market season here in Central Ohio, and I, for one, couldn't be happier. I can't wait to eat my first plate of roasted asparagus with a fried egg on top. YUM.
What can you expect at the first farmer's markets of the season? Asparagus, to be sure. If you have never have chives fresh from the garden, I urge you to pick some up at the first farm markets; they are truly amazing, especially the blossoms (of course they're lovely, too - just look at my new banner!). Certainly all sorts of greens can be had - arugula, lettuce, and other salad greens. Plants will be available for the first few weeks. You will also be able to find lots of honey, cheeses of all sorts, baked goods, and eggs. Hopefully there will also be mushrooms, snow peas and sugar snap peas, and probably a few shelter and greenhouse raised veggies. If we're lucky, there will be some morels!
