How about the Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan? (Or his book In Defense of Food). It makes you think about where your food came from (which, if you're most people) can be a pretty scary realization.
I agree! I am in the middle of it and thought immediately of Restaurant Widow. This book makes me want to sell everything I own and move back to the country. It is fantastic.

Another Animal, Vegetable, Miracle book lover here. It's what got me started on eating local. I tell everyone I know to read it.

Have you read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver? It was published not too long ago (April?) and I think you would enjoy it.
