Can it be that I have reached the end of another week with success? I have waded through my grumpy bosses, finicky guests, Husband working too many hours, not having anything to wear for Spring AND snow this morning.
And yet somehow, here I sit, finally in my pajamas, which I can wear for the next 40 hours if I please, drinking a nice little St. Druon Abbey Ale, eating some popcorn and a few slices of apple. My favorite time of the week, as it is also followed by 3 hours of watching The Saturday Night Solution on Court TV.
A frightening amount of popcorn is consumed in my house. And I don't even own a popcorn popper. Everything is popped in the All-Clad 8 quart stock pot. In a blend of canola oil and yes, coconut oil. Oh! The saturated fat! Coconut oil is one of the best (worst?) sources of saturated fat available. Also, in its native, tropical lands, it is a liquid. Here in Central Ohio, it is a solid; it doesn't melt until about 80 degrees! And it makes wonderful popcorn.
My favorite popcorn comes from Euclid, Ohio. I don't really know where that is but I am guessing it's somewhere near water, since Euclid is a rather seasonal town, from what I gather. At any rate, Humphry popcorn grows their own hybrid white popcorn and their popcorn balls are great. They'll ship just about anything to you; although they get busy around the holidays, I was impressed when I placed an order just a few days before Christmas; they said it probably wouldn't get to me by Christmas but lo and behold, it sure did.
Well, here's to the weekend. It's time to kick off the Danskos and hit the sofa.
